CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS TOGETHER
Everyone’s favorite curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge, is back! The humbug’s wrenching, covetous, and cares more for money than all else. When the clock strikes midnight one fateful Christmas Eve, the ghost of Scrooge’s old pal Marley pays a much overdue visit. Through a supernatural journey, Scrooge must confront the past, acknowledge the present, and define the future for the good of the community –and Scrooge’s very soul. A timeless holiday tale of redemption and joy, Trinity Rep’s reimagined production of A Christmas Carol has been a beloved New England family tradition for over 45 years.
A Christmas Carol is presented by Cardi’s Furniture & Mattresses. The supporting sponsor is Amica Insurance.
"This play is always a fan favorite at Trinity Rep, bringing generations of families together to celebrate the timeless magic of Dickens’ story. This year, we have the unique opportunity to share it with Trinity Rep and PPAC audiences alike. The historic venue provides an enchanting backdrop, and I am excited to share this wonderful Christmas story with everyone.”
- Tatyana-Marie Carlo, director of A Christmas Carol and Resident Trinity Repertory Company Member
Age Recommendation
A Christmas Carol is recommended for audiences 5 years or older. Children under the age of 2 are not permitted to attend A Christmas Carol.
What is happening with A Christmas Carol this year?
Trinity Rep’s holiday favorite production of A Christmas Carol will be performed off site this winter at the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC).
Why is A Christmas Carol at PPAC?
The Chace theater, which has been the beloved home for A Christmas Carol for decades, is going to be under construction for a much-needed renovation. On the other side of the construction the space will have new fully re-configurable seating, new seats, and a new lighting grid. It will be more welcoming and more comfortable for all audiences, and it will have more artistic capabilities for our actors and directors.
PPAC's location allows Trinity Rep to stay downtown and offers audiences the same theater-going experience you are used to and has all the seats needed for a spectacular production.

Yes! The price of your ticket still goes to Trinity Rep to help cover the costs of the show. You will see in check out that PPAC will charge a $4 facilities fee to support their spaces.
