Ben Platt Releases New Album "HONEYMIND" Today
Palace Residency Kicked Off This Week with Special Guests Kacey Musgraves, Kristin Chenoweth and Leslie Odom Jr.
May 31, 2024 – Santa Monica, CA – Today, Ben Platt releases his
highly anticipated new album Honeymind. The third album from the Tony®, GRAMMY®, and Emmy® winner, Honeymind features previously released singles “Andrew,” “Cherry On Top,” and “Treehouse” featuring GRAMMY®-winning Americana icon — and songwriter of the Tony®-winning Broadway musical Shucked — Brandy Clark. Honeymind is available now via Interscope Records HERE.
Platt also shares a video to an acoustic performance of the song, and focus track for the album, “Before I Knew You.” An ode to his fiancé actor Noah Galvin, the clip was shot in Brooklyn, NY and can be viewed HERE.
Platt kicked off his residency at Broadway’s newly refurbished Palace Theatre (West 47th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues) this past Tuesday, May 28th with a spectacular performance that featured songs from all three of his albums, plus other material, and a special guest - GRAMMY® winner Kacey Musgraves who joined Ben in a rendition of “Rainbow.” Additional guests this week included Kristin Chenoweth and Leslie Odom Jr. with more surprises to come. The residency, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Arden who collaborated with Platt on the 2023 Tony Award-winning revival of Parade which also earned Platt a Tony nomination, will play through Saturday, June 15 for 18 performances only with a special guest each night.
Following the Palace dates, Platt will hit the road on June 18, kicking off with a show in Boston, MA, before stopping at marquee venues including the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA, two nights at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, and two nights at Massey Hall in Toronto, ON. Brandy Clark will open on all dates. For more information, and to purchase tickets and VIP packages, visit benplattmusic.com.
Platt has previously revealed how Honeymind, which boasts contributions from famed producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton) and country songwriting greats Hillary Lindsey and Natalie Hemby, got its name from a stroll with his partner. "I looked up at the ceiling of treetops, hundreds of rays of golden light were pouring through all the tiny gaps in the leaves like a shimmering pattern," he says. "I thought about how to describe to him that I was just so happy to be in love with him." Ultimately, he settled on blissful-sounding "Honeymind."
While working on his album since 2022, Platt has also kept busy with other rewarding projects. Just last year, he starred in the film Theater Camp, which he also produced and co-wrote. The film, as well as his upcoming new album, continue a storied career packed with unforgettable performances (Dear Evan Hanson, Pitch Perfect, Parade, and more) and critically lauded releases.
