HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT CHOSEN AS A FINALIST FOR THE 2024 JIMMY AWARDS® STUDENT REPORTER SEARCH; PLEASE ENGAGE BY THE MAY 31ST DEADLINE!

Providence, RI – Allie Burns, a student at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA, has been selected as one of ten finalists for the 2024 Jimmy Awards® Student Reporter Search. Bishop Feehan High School is participating in the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC)’s Ocean State Star Awards (OSSA) program; this education initiative honors and encourages excellence in musical theatre performance and productions among area high school students. Through this program, one male high school performer and one female high school performer are chosen to represent the state of Rhode Island at the Jimmy Awards® competition in June 2024. The amount of social media engagement with Allie's video is one of the criteria on which she will be judged, so we ask for your support by the deadline which is May 31st; please feel free to share this and ask others to support Allie to win for OSSA/PPAC.

The Providence Performing Arts Center asks the public to engage with Allie’s submission video, by watching, liking, commenting and sharing, from The Jimmy Awards’ Facebook post: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=957490829089771 and from their Instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6tupf8ub5U/ until May 31st . The Jimmy Awards’ Submissions Board will then review social media video analytics for each finalist’s submitted video, and consider their camera presence, creativity and adherence to video submission guidelines. Two Student Reporters will be selected and will have the exciting opportunity to work with The Jimmy Awards®’ social media team, covering the awards ceremony on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Minskoff Theatre in New York City.

The Jimmy Awards®/The National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (NHSMTA®) program impacts approximately 130,000 students who participate in 51 regional high school musical theatre competitions sponsored by presenters of touring Broadway productions throughout the United States (this includes PPAC’s Ocean State Star Awards program). Presented by The Broadway League Foundation, Inc., the NHSMTA invites two nominees from each local regional ceremony to New York City for a rigorous theatre intensive that includes coaching sessions, training, and rehearsals led by some of Broadway’s most accomplished professionals. Nominees will spend ten days in New York City from Friday, June 14, 2024, through Tuesday, June 25, 2024, and their efforts throughout the week will lead to one extraordinary talent showcase performed live in front of an audience on a Broadway stage. The fifteenth annual Jimmy Awards will take place on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Minskoff Theatre.
